Sixers rookie Markelle Fultz out the next three games

Markelle Fultz

Philadelphia 76ers rookie guard Markelle Fultz will be sidelined for at least the next three games due to a shoulder injury. It’s something he’s been dealing with early in the season and the rookie will be reevaluated this upcoming Tuesday.

Fultz’s agent had previously indicated that the No. 1 pick had fluid drained from his shoulder. He’s since changed said story.

“He had a cortisone shot on Oct. 5, which means fluid was put into his shoulder — not taken out,” agent Raymond Brothers told ESPN on Tuesday night. “My intention earlier was to let people know that he’s been experiencing discomfort. We will continue to work with (Sixers general manager) Bryan Colangelo and the medical staff.”

This has to be concerning to a Sixers team that has dealt with a tremendous amount of injuries to young players.

Joel Embiid missed his first two NBA seasons with a leg injury. Meanwhile, 2016 No. 1 pick Ben Simmons also missed his entire rookie campaign.
