The Seattle Mariners added right-hander Brady Lail to the active roster Monday and designated right-hander Domingo Tapia for assignment.

In addition, infielder Jack Mayfield was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma.

Lail, 27, has just nine games of major league experience and will be on a big league roster for the first time this season. He had a 4.80 ERA in seven relief appearances for the Mariners last season.

Tapia, 29, had two scoreless appearances for the Mariners this season before he was optioned to the team’s alternate site May 4. He has a 1.42 ERA over seven career major league appearances.

Mayfield, 30, was called up from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday but did not appear in a game. In 49 career games with the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels over the past three seasons, he has 18 hits in 109 at-bats.
