The Seattle Mariners placed right-hander Casey Sadler on the 10-day injured list Sunday with inflammation in his right shoulder.

The move is retroactive to Saturday for Sadler, 30, who is 0-1 with a 1.64 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 11 appearances out of the bullpen this season.

The Mariners recalled right-hander Erik Swanson from the alternate training site to replace Sadler on the roster.

This is the second stint with Seattle this season for Swanson, 27, who tossed two shutout innings at Baltimore in his only previous appearance on April 13.
