Seahawks fan starts GoFundMe account to raise funds for Kam Chancellor return

Kam Chancellor

Seattle Seahawks fans understand how important safety Kam Chancellor is to the “Legion of Boom.”

One fan is so desperate for Chancellor to return that he’s started a GoFundMe account, Bring Back Kam, to raise money in order to facilitate his return.

Gregory Jaspan is the fan responsible for this account, which has a stated goal of raising $2 million.

To this end, only $40 has been raised, and only two people have donated (likely Jaspan and one of his friends or family).

“I am fully aware that raising money for a multi-millionaire pro athlete seems crazy, but nobody ever accused us Twelves of being normal. I just want us to win and the spirits of Twelves everywhere to be lifted,” wrote Jaspan.

As you may know, Chancellor is still holding out for a new contract.

He missed training camp and all of preseason, and there is a growing concern he may actually miss games if he doesn’t get a new deal. Seattle isn’t budging and even traded a fifth-round pick for safety Kelcie McCray in a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, signaling there is no intention of catering to Chancellor’s demand.

The New York Giants are rumored to be interested in trading for the three-time Pro Bowler, but nothing has developed on that front.

While the GoFundMe account is cute, everybody knows it’s just for show. The thing to take away from this stunt is that Seahawks fans are getting antsy about starting the season without Chancellor, who provides the boom in the “Legion of Boom.”
