There’s not going to be any animosity between Sam Bradford and Josh Rosen if the veteran signal caller has anything to say about it.
After the Arizona Cardinals traded up to No. 10 overall to select Rosen in the first round last Thursday, the rookie received a warm welcome via a classy text message from Bradford. Per the team’s website, Rosen got the text from Bradford as he was being driven to his introductory press conference.
“He said, ‘Josh, what’s up, man? Welcome to Arizona,” Rosen reads. ” ‘Just wanted to let you know that I look forward to playing with you. I’ll be an open book, so if you ever need anything or have any questions, feel free to ask. Hope all is well.’ ”
That’s just incredible, especially given the fact that Rosen will almost certainly take Bradford’s starting job at some point. Speaking to this, Rosen said the following during his press conference.
“First and foremost, I’m an Arizona Cardinal. It’s team before everything. … I’m going to compete my butt off every single day, but then again, I’m not going to be the guy that comes in and thinks he’s the man from Day 1. It’s a long process, and you’ve got to earn it.”
He’ll have the perfect man to lean on in Bradford, who won’t hesitate to help him become the best he can be. And honestly, nobody should expect anything less from Bradford, who’s been an incredible teammate wherever he’s played since coming out of college as a first-round pick himself back in 2010.
