The New Orleans Saints and defensive end Cameron Jordan have agreed to a three-year extension that keeps him with the team for the next five seasons.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news Tuesday, calling it a “big” extension.

Per Schefter, the extension includes $42 million guaranteed and has a max value of $55.5 million.

Jordan has been one of the best defensive ends in the NFL for years. He has tallied 71.5 sacks over the course of his eight-year career, including 25 the past two seasons. Additionally, Jordan excels against the run and has been highly graded by Pro Football Focus (90.0 last season) for his all-around excellence.

On top of that, Jordan is one of the NFL’s true iron men, having started 128 straight games since being selected in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
