Russell Wilson has taken some big hits in his seven years as an NFL quarterback, but he’s got his sights set on playing two decades in the league.
Speaking to Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report, Wilson reiterated his desire to play 20 years in the NFL and said he believes it’s a plausible goal:”For sure it can happen,” Wilson said. “You see the likes of Tom [Brady] and Drew [Brees]. It’s totally possible.”
Wilson, of course, just signed the richest contract in NFL history. With it comes the expectation that he will continue to keep Seattle competitive. So far in his career he’s done just that, going 75-36-1 during the regular season and 8-5 in the postseason with a Super Bowl win.
When it’s all said and done, he hopes to be remembered as the winningest quarterback in league history: “Hopefully, I can be the greatest winner of all time,” he said, per Freeman.
The former third-round pick has his work cut out on that front. Yet given his drive and talent, nobody should count him out. Especially if he can stay healthy and realizes his goal of playing 20-plus years.
