Tempers were flying early on between Cleveland Browns safety Ronnie Harrison and the Kansas City Chiefs coaching staff in the season opener for the two AFC rivals.
Toward the end of the second quarter, Harrison was seen on the Chiefs’ sideline getting mixed up with coaches and staffers. Replay showed the former Alabama standout shoving an unnamed Chiefs coach.
Initially, officials on hand in Kansas City called the Chiefs’ sideline for a 15-yard penalty. But upon further review, it became clear that Ronnie Harrison made physical contact with a coach. At that point, the fourth-year safety was ejected from the game.
That just can’t happen. It’s not acceptable. And in reality, Harrison was rightfully tossed from the game with his Browns up 8-0.
He’s likely going to hear even more from the NFL league office in New York City in the form of a fine and a potential suspension.
