Ron Rivera and the Carolina Panthers will get a first-hand look at the craze that is Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield this coming Sunday.
In the lead up to said game, Rivera took time out of his day to compare Mayfield to his former Chicago Bears teammate, Jim McMahon.
Panthers’ HC Ron Rivera on his evaluation of QB Baker Mayfield, who will square off Sunday vs Carolina: “I will tell you what. He reminds me a lot – I hope that he appreciates it – of a guy that I played with named (former Bears’ QB) Jim McMahon.”

Given that Mayfield was born one year before McMahon retired from the NFL, we’re pretty sure he’s going to have to use Google to figure out who the quarterback is.
But for those of us who are a bit longer in the tooth, we know full well that this comparison makes a ton of sense. Primarily, Rivera is talking about Mayfield’s outspoken personality. McMahon was exactly that during his five years as Rivera’s teammate in the Windy City.
We just hope that Mayfield and his Browns take time to duplicate this absolutely amazing 80s-centric song.
