Rob Gronkowski announces retirement from the NFL

After taking well over a month to deliberate about his future, Rob Gronkowski has decided to hang up his cleats and retire from the NFL.

The New England Patriots tight end announced his decision on Instagram.

Gronkowski started his NFL career as a second-round pick out of Arizona back in 2010. One of the league’s most dominant playmakers when healthy, injuries derailed his career and cost him the chance to put up NFL record stats for tight ends.

Despite his injury-shortened career, Gronk will walk off into the sunset with 521 receptions for 7,861 yards and 79 touchdowns. He also won three Super Bowls with the Patriots, was a five-time Pro Bowler and was voted to four First-team All-Pro squads.
