Rex Burkhead won’t talk about incident that led to Tom Brady’s injury

Just days prior to the AFC Championship Game, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady injured his throwing hand. The injury — which required stitches — was caused when a player and his helmet collided with Brady in practice.

We have since found out that the player that inadvertently injured Brady was running back Rex Burkhead. Though, this particular topic of conversation with the press is off limits according to Burkhead.

“I don’t want to get involved with it,” Burkhead said, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.”

The reporters apparently did not get the message the first time. They continued to pry into the incident.

“But I’m still not speaking on it.”

Take a hint already, ladies and gentlemen. Keeping mum on certain topics, especially involving health and injuries is the Patriots’ way. After the injury happened, both Brady and head coach Bill Belichick shed very little light.

Burkhead is not about to speak on anything that would land him in the coach’s doghouse ahead of Sunday’s game.
