There really isn’t any need to read between the lines here. According to Yahoo Sports NFL insider Charles Robinson, the Minnesota Vikings’ request for a meeting with Adrian Peterson’s agent was denied during the owner’s meetings this week.
Now that Peterson is unwilling to even meet with the Vikings, we probably have a better understanding of where he is in the process. He simply doesn’t want to be back with a team that the running back doesn’t feel backed him during his child abuse case.
It’s been well documented that Peterson would prefer the Vikings to trade him. Though, it’s important to note that he has yet to request a trade. In addition to this, the Vikings told Peterson’s agent that they will not be releasing him.
Another recent report from Robinson indicated that Peterson is not happy with the Vikings.
Among the teams interested in a potential trade for Peterson are the Arizona Cardinals, who are apparently willing to give up a high-round pick for the future Hall of Famer.
It will be interesting to see if the Vikings calls Peterson’s bluff here. Considering he is currently under contract, options are limited for the running back.
