Report: Tyreke Evans meeting with Pacers

The Indiana Pacers are an intriguing team on the rise, and they’ve captured the attention of veteran guard Tyreke Evans.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports Evans is meeting with Indiana, though no deal is imminent.

Last summer, Evans joined the Memphis Grizzlies on a one-year prove-it contract — and prove his value he did.

The Memphis product averaged 19.4 points, 5.2 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game. He also swiped 1.1 steals while shooting 39.9 percent from beyond the arc and 45.2 overall.

All that production meant Evans would be a respected piece in free agency this offseason. Indiana, which took the Cleveland Cavaliers to seven games in the 2017 playoffs, has plenty of cap space to sign him.

The Pacers could slot him next to Victor Oladipo in the starting lineup, but it would be more sensible to have Evans serve as the primary playmaker in the second unit.
