The Atlanta Hawks received a major scare in the first half of Tuesday night’s game against the Miami Heat.

Star young guard Trae Young went down with what appeared to be a serious ankle injury. He was down on the court in pain before being helped to the locker room.

There’s now some tremendous news on this front. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Young’s injury is not serious. He’s expected to return next week.

One of the most-electric young players in the game, Young entered Tuesday’s matchup with the Heat averaging 34.0 points while hitting on 52% of his three-pointers on the season.

A legit MVP candidate should his Hawks surprise folks and earn a playoff spot, Young’s presence is needed on the court for both Atlanta and the broader NBA.
