In 2015, Brandon Weeden appeared in two games for the Houston Texans, starting one and winning it. That was enough for the team to bring him back as the backup quarterback, as Houston announced on Friday that Weeden will be return to the Texans for 2016.

Rand Getlin of the NFL Network reported that it’s a two-year deal for $4 million.
While the Texans still have Brian Hoyer on the roster, Weeden will in all likelihood be the second-string quarterback behind Brock Osweiler once training camp begins.
Hoyer is reportedly on his way out, either by a trade or release from the club.
Weeden has 25 career starts, five of which came in 2015 (four with the Dallas Cowboys, one with the Texans).
In all of his 2015 games, Weeden completed 69.3% of his passes, throwing five touchdowns and two interceptions. In his two games with Houston, Weeden had a 61.9% completion percentage, throwing three touchdowns and no picks.
Weeden has shown that he’s not good enough to be an effective starting quarterback. Still, he has starting experience and familiarity with Bill O’Brien’s offense. Considering these factors, Houston could certainly do worse at the backup position.
