There has been a lot of talk in recent days that the Los Angeles Lakers will pick someone other than Lonzo Ball with the No. 2 overall pick of the 2017 NBA Draft.
Don’t buy it.
Every NBA front office person I have talked to still expects the Lakers to draft Lonzo Ball. Most said "those reports are just noise."

Ball desperately wants to be a Laker, and so does his bombastic father, LaVar Ball. The UCLA grad recently said he’d rather be selected by the Lakers than be the No. 1 overall pick, which should tell you all you need to know about his real desire to play for his hometown team.
Lakers head coach Luke Walton recently talked up Lonzo Ball and said he’s in no way concerned about the potential drama Ball’s father might bring.
It makes too much sense for the Lakers to take Ball. That said, rumors run rampant this time of year, and you never know what will happen until the names start falling off the board during the draft. We can’t wait to see what Los Angeles does, if Ball is still available at No. 2.
