Report: Seahawks place franchise tag on Frank Clark

The Seattle Seahawks are going to retain perhaps their best defensive player for at least one more season.

Set to hit free agency later this month, Seattle has placed the franchise tag on star defensive end Frank Clark.

A former second-round pick of the Seahawks, the 25-year-old Clark has recorded 66 quarterback hits and 32 sacks over the past three seasons. Last year saw him rack up a career-high 13 sacks.

By placing the tag on Clark, Seattle is guaranteeing him $17.12 million for next season. Obviously, that’s dependent on Clark signing said tag.

The hope here is that Seattle and Clark can work out a long-term deal ahead of July’s deadline.
