Report: Seahawks Have Massive Contract Offer on the Table for Marshawn Lynch

In quite a turnaround from in-season reports that indicated the Seattle Seahawks were prepared to move on from Marshawn Lynch during the offseason, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that the team has a massive contract extension offer on the table for the running back.

According to the report, Lynch’s potential new deal would pay him $10 million in 2015—quite a raise from the $5 million he was set to earn.

Lynch finished this past regular season with 1,673 total yards and a league-leading 17 total touchdowns from the running back position.

At 28 years old and with four consecutive great seasons under his belt, Lynch has clearly outperformed his current contract. However, the larger issue at hand was the need for Seattle to sign youngsters such as Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner to what will be huge extensions in the offseason. That played into the idea that Lynch wouldn’t be returning to the Pacific Northwest in 2015.

Apparently, that’s no longer the case.
