Oakland Raiders rookie Amari Cooper could be performing double duties this season. In addition to catching passes from Derek Carr, the Alabama product may very well return some punts.
“Amari Cooper is another guy we’re working back there,” Raiders special teams coordinator Brad Seely said recently, via CSN Bay Area’s Scott Bair. “It depends on, you know, what exactly his role is on this football team if he’s going to do some of that stuff. He could because he’s got a lot of talent. At this time of the year, you’re really just trying to evaluate as many guys as you can.”
This news comes on the heels of recent speculation claiming Cooper is the “real deal” after his first extended practice time with the team.
No matter what role the Raiders have planned for Cooper as a rookie, he should turn heads with his freakish athleticism and outstanding football talent.
Considering it’s been a while since the Raiders have any sort of real talent at wide receiver, this should be refreshing.
