As the Philadelphia Phillies look to fill their managerial vacancy with someone who can take them into the playoffs, they will reportedly speak with three ex-managers with plenty of playoff experience.

According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, Philadelphia will interview Joe Girardi and Buck Showalter this week. Furthermore, the Phillies are also scheduled to interview Dusty Baker.

Philadelphia’s interest in Girardi is unsurprising. He is one of the most coveted candidates available this offseason, so the Phillies will face significant competition fro him. Girardi served as the New York Yankees manager for 10 seasons with his club posting a 910-710 record with a World Series championship in 2009.

Showalter would be returning to the game after taking the year off in 2019. He has managed for four different clubs in 20 seasons, most recently serving as the Baltimore Orioles skipper from 2010-’18. He holds a record of 1,551-1,517 with five playoff appearances.

Baker also carries extensive managerial experience. While he last worked as a skipper in 2017 with the Washington Nationals, he holds a 1,863-1,636 record with nine postseason appearances in 22 years.

After parting ways with manager Gabe Kapler, who came in with no managerial experience, the Phillies appear to be targeting candidates with extensive experience.
