The Carolina Panthers will soon have a decision to make after their Week 7 bye.

Fresh off winning a fourth consecutive game with Kyle Allen under center, Cam Newton is set to return from his foot injury.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter notes that Newton will return to practice following the team’s bye. At that point, Carolina’s brass will have to make a decision moving forward.

It’s complicated in that Allen has won all five of his NFL starts dating back to last season. Meanwhile, the Panthers have lost each of Newton’s past eight starts.

Carolina will be forced to head to Northern California and take on an undefeated 49ers team in Week 8. San Francisco boasts the second-best defense in the NFL and ranks No. 1 against the pass.
