Report: Manu Ginobili and Spurs finalizing new contract

NBA title

It sure looks like future Hall of Famer Manu Ginobili will be returning to the San Antonio Spurs for a 16th season. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the two sides are finalizing a deal that will bring him back to the only city he’s called home during a championship-winning career.

Ginobili, 39, averaged 7.5 points and shot a solid 39 percent from three-point range last season. His return to the Spurs is somewhat interesting in that it looked like Ginobili was going to call it quits after San Antonio was swept out of Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals by the Golden State Warriors. That final game in San Antonio acted as somewhat of a celebration for what the Argentinian did for San Antonio.

In any event, this adds another layer to what promises to be a strong Spurs bench this upcoming season. That’s most definitely not a bad thing going up against the three-time defending conference champion Warriors.
