Report: Lonzo Ball not interested in going to the Pelicans

There’s going to be a ton of reverberations felt around the NBA following Monday’s news that star New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis has requested a trade.

One of those backstories is young Los Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball, whose future in Southern California was up in the air prior to this most-recent news.

Ball would likely be one of the headliners if Davis were dealt from New Orleans to the Lakers.

If that were to come to fruition, this one report from Shams Charania of The Athletic suggests that Ball wouldn’t want to land in New Orleans. Instead, his camp is looking for a third team to get involved.

As evidenced by the Pelicans’ press release following Davis’ trade demand, we’re ways aay from any trade even being considered. Even then, the Lakers seem like an optimal fit. Here’s what it would take for Los Angeles to pair Davis up with LeBron James.

As it relates to Ball, we’re not sure he’s in any position to be making demands. The second-year guard is out through at least February with an ankle injury. He’s also struggled in terms of on-court progression since entering the NBA last season.

Though, the thought process here is that New Orleans already boasts an All-Star level point guard in Jrue Holiday. Ball wants to run a team. Whether that comes to fruition down the road remains to be seen.
