The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly bringing J.R. Smith with them to Orlando, per ESPN’S Adrian Wojnarowski, closing in on a deal that will add Smith to the roster when the NBA season resumes.

Los Angeles Lakers finalizing a deal to reunite J.R. Smith and LeBron James

When guard Avery Bradley opted out of the NBA’s restart plan, the Los Angeles Lakers were expected to quickly find his replacement. After days of speculation, the reunion between J.R. Smith and LeBron James is happening.

While the details still need to be worked out before a contract is finalized, the 34-year-old guard should be practicing with the team fairly soon.

Smith last played during the 2018-’19 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, averaging just 6.7 points per game and shooting 30.8% from the three-point line. He had worked out for the Lakers previously and now the move to join the team will become official.

James and the Lakers will be hoping that the veteran guard can provide some shooting off the bench and hopefully show more awareness during late-game situations.
