Heisman trophy winner Kyler Murray has a massive decision to make about his future.
Recently, a report emerged that there is “no doubt” Murray loves football much more than he loves baseball. Now a new report indicates he’s mulling over a move that allows him to do both in 2019.
Bay Area broadcaster Greg Papa made an appearance on 95.7 The Game’s “Joe, Lo and Dibs” show recently and shared the latest information he’s heard about the two-sport star.
“I’ve heard a lot of rumblings that he may go back to Oklahoma and play next year again, which would still allow him to play for the A’s in their minor league system,” said Papa (h/t NBC Sports Bay Area). “You can be pro in one sport and amateur in the other, as we know. So, he may do that.”
This fits what Murray himself has said recently, which is that he wishes he could play both sports.
Of course, the option also exists for Murray to opt out of his MLB contract with the Oakland Athletics — a provision exists for him to do just that.
At least one NFL scout has indicated the Sooners quarterback is viewed as a first-round talent, and there are plenty of teams in need of a franchise passer.
The young man has to make a decision soon. The deadline to declare for the 2019 NFL Draft is Jan. 14, which of course is just right around the corner.
