Report: Kirk Cousins won’t agree to terms before making free-agent visits

The hottest free agent on the market in 2018, Kirk Cousins, reportedly won’t be making a hasty decision about signing with his new team. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Cousins will make at least one free-agent visit, and possibly more, before agreeing to terms on a contract.

Essentially, Cousins won’t be pulling a Brock Osweiler — signing with a team before ever meeting with his new head coach.

Of course, this all makes perfect sense.

Cousins has played for one of the most dysfunctional teams in the NFL since he was drafted in 2012. He wasn’t valued the way he wanted to be, and the front office never had his back. So, obviously it behooves him to actually meet and talk with his prospective new employer before signing on the dotted line.

There’s always the chance his dysfunctional former team will do something crazy still, like tagging him in the hopes of trading him. If that happens, then all bets are off, because in the case of such a scenario the Alex Smith trade could unravel, and Washington could end up being stuck with Cousins.

Needless to say, that would be a disastrous situation for all involved. Hopefully for Cousins, and for any teams looking to sign him, the dysfunctional nightmare is already over.
