Report: Jerry Jones hires world-renowned to block Roger Goodell extension

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is working hard behind the scenes to block a potential contract extension for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

How hard is he working? According to this report from Ken Belson of The New York Times, Jones has hired world-renowned lawyer David Boies to help block Goodell’s extension.

“Jones told the six owners on the league’s compensation committee last week that he had hired David Boies … according to the people, who declined to be speak publicly about internal league matters,” the report noted.

Most recently, Boies has been connected to the entire Harvey Weinstein scandal in Hollywood. Though, he’s more infamously known for representing then Vice President Al Gore in his court case against George W. Bush during the 2000 presidential election.

Bringing on such a high-profile figure to help upend Goodell’s suspension is a clear indication that Jones is not messing around here. It also comes at the same time that Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is battling the NFL in court.

Fun times in the NFL, indeed.
