The San Francisco Giants might remain in the Bay Area to find a replacement for recently retired manager Bruce Bochy.

According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Giants interviewed Oakland Athletics quality control coach Mark Kotsay for the opening earlier this week.

Giants president Farhan Zaidi has a history with Kotsay dating back to their days together with the A’s and San Diego Padres. Kotsay played for Oakland from 2004-07 when Zaidi was in the team’s front office.

The 17-year MLB veteran also served as San Diego’s hitting coach back in 2015.
