A day after putting up 358 yards and three touchdowns in the New York Jets season finale, a report from Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole indicates that quarterback Geno Smith missed a team meeting on Monday.
There aren’t any more details to this report, but it appears to be a trend more than anything else. Smith missed a team meetings back in October, a day before he completed 4-of-12 passes for 26 yards and an interception in a 31-0 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
In and out of the starting lineup this season, Smith struggled to build off what was a disappointing rookie campaign. And he’s simply not seen as the long-term solution for a Jets team that fired head coach Rex Ryan on Monday.
Smith finished the 2014 campaign with 2,525 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He was 3-10 as the team’s starting quarterback after finishing 8-8 the previous season.
