Former Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett has reportedly found a home in the NFL and will be signing with the New Orleans Saints.
According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Barrett had an invite to try out for the Indianapolis Colts and had interest from other teams. Instead, he’ll head to New Orleans where he’ll have to compete with Tom Savage and Taysom Hill for a roster spot this summer.
This is a really great opportunity for Barrett to learn how to play quarterback at the professional level. Obviously Drew Brees is one of the best to ever play, and he’s never shied away from teaching young passers the ropes. Interestingly, he’ll now be tutoring the man who broke some of his Big Ten passing records.
In four years at Ohio State, Barrett passed for 9.434 yards with 104 touchdowns and 30 interceptions, completing 63.5 percent of his passes. A dual-threat passer, he also ran for 3,253 yards and 43 touchdowns.
