Report: Dolphins plan to release Ndamukong Suh

The Miami Dolphins made the biggest splash of the 2015 offseason by landing Ndamukong Suh, but the defensive tackle will be looking for a new NFL home in 2018.

ESPN’s Jeff Darlington reports the Dolphins plan to release Suh as early as Monday.

Shortly after Miami acquired Robert Quinn, a rumor emerged the franchise wanted to move on from Suh. Although Quinn isn’t a defensive tackle, he’s another highly paid defensive lineman on a unit that already included Suh and Cameron Wake.

This is a strange move for the Dolphins, since it’s not even an immediate cost-saving measure. They can designate him a post-June 1 cut, but the savings won’t help Miami this offseason.

Besides, the veteran has continued being a dominant force in the middle of the line. He posted 48 tackles with 4.5 sacks last season and forced two fumbles. Suh remains a tremendous player.

But now, a different NFL team will have Suh anchoring its defense in 2018 and potentially beyond.
