Report: Devonta Freeman ruled out for Week 6

After making his return in Week 5 following a three-week absence, Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman will reportedly miss Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Freeman first sat out Wednesday’s practice with a bone contusion in his foot and never returned to the practice field this week. Now after missing three consecutive practices, he will miss Week 6.

The good news is this specific injury isn’t as serious as the knee injury that sidelined him for three games. Atlanta reportedly doesn’t consider it to be a long-term issue, so Freeman could return in the near future.

While Freeman is sidelined, running back Tevin Coleman will step in and take the heavy share of touches in Atlanta’s backfield. He will likely share reps with Ito Smith, who has found the end zone in consecutive weeks.
