Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Dan Skuta has reportedly been cleared of misdemeanor battery charges stemming from an arrest in late June.

The linebacker was accused of slamming a woman’s head into a building window late at night. She alleged Skuta was angry that she would not give him her phone number.

When police arrived at the scene, they found her to have no injury. Despite this, and despite evidence that indicated Skuta was actually the one who was hit during the exchange (details here), the woman pressed charges.

TMZ is reporting the Florida State Attorney has deemed there to be not enough evidence to support these charges.

“…officials investigated the incident and determined there just wasn’t enough evidence to prove Skuta committed a crime — so the State Attorney in FL decided to drop the case.”

Obviously this is good news for Skuta and the Jaguars.

Though not a star, the linebacker is a solid role player who started eight games for Jacksonville last year, producing 37 tackles, 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble. With this incident behind him, Skuta can now focus on improving his production for the upcoming season for the up-and-coming Jags.
