Report: Charlie Strong will not be subpoenaed in boosters’ divorce

University of Louisville Boosters Johnathan and Tracy Blue have reached a settlement in their divorce case, which is welcome news for former Louisville and current University of Texas head coach Charlie Strong.

It had previously been speculated that a subpoena could bring Strong problems at Texas, even possibly leading to him being fired. Rival recruiting directors and coaches also said that Strong’s involvement ‘will be used against UT‘ in recruiting.

If Strong will not be subpoenaed, it’s hard to imagine his job being on the line any more than it already was entering the 2016 season. Also, while it certainly wouldn’t be surprising if recruiters still tried to use this against Texas on the recruiting trail, they now have significantly less ammunition.

In all, this is welcome news for anyone that has anything to do with the University of Texas or their football program.

None of this means Strong is out of the woods at Texas. He still has a lot to prove to show that the program is headed in the right direction. After an 11-14 record in his first two seasons, that’s far easier said than done.

But with this out of the way, it’s at least fair to think that he’ll now be judged based on what happens on the field and not in the courtroom, which is unquestionably good news.
