Report: Cavaliers Have a Deal in Place to Send Jarrett Jack to the Nets

Whether LeBron James lands with the Cleveland Cavaliers this offseason really doesn’t matter when it comes to veteran guard Jarrett Jack, who seems to be on his way out of town. It was previously reported that Cleveland was looking to free up some cap space with both Jack and Dion Waiters as options to be moved. A report late Sunday night from Sam Amico of Fox Sports indicates that Jack is as good as gone.

Amico goes on to say that regardless of what happens with LeBron, it appears Jack will not be returning to Cleveland for a second season. The only potential hold up here is finding a third team to take on Brooklyn Nets guard Marcus Thornton. Amico mentions the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves as potential destinations for the guard.

Regardless of what the report indicates, moving Jack to free up some cap space is very likely an indication that Cleveland believes it’s really in play for James’ services. This coincides with another report from the venerable Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports that indicated the Cavaliers are looking to move Jack in lieu of Anderson Varejao, who is a perceived favorite of James.

If it were a pure cap-cutting move, Varejao would be the one to be moved. He’s due $9.7 million in 2014-2015 and averaged just 8.4 points a season ago.
