Report: Cardinals planning to hire Vance Joseph as DC

Former Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph is reportedly set to become the next defensive coordinator of the Arizona Cardinals.

ESPN’s Josina Anderson reported Friday that the Cardinals are planning to hire Joseph but that the two sides are still in discussions on a deal.

Joseph spent the past two seasons at the helm of the Denver organization before being fired recently. He struggled to lead the Broncos, missing the playoffs both seasons while tallying a record of 11-21.

However, he was highly thought of as a defensive-minded coach before the Denver job. Joseph had previously been the defensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins in 2016, and before that he was a talented defensive backs coach for the San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans and Cincinnati Bengals.

The Cardinals need an experienced defensive coordinator after hiring Kliff Kingsbury away from USC. Joseph would certainly seem to fit the bill.
