Report: Browns could take QB with both No. 1 and No. 4 picks

With less than two weeks remaining until the 2018 NFL Draft begins, it’s hardly surprising that some crazy reports are emerging. It’s lying season, after all. But ESPN’s Adam Schefter dropped quite the shocking bit of information in a SportsCenter segment about what the Cleveland Browns could be considering atop the draft.

Schefter said we shouldn’t be surprised if the Browns end up taking a quarterback with both the No. 1 and No. 4 overall picks.

The crazy part here is that Schefter wasn’t joking. This wasn’t some gag.

Playing devil’s advocate here for a second, when you consider that Washington did pretty well for itself drafting two quarterbacks in 2012, one could convince oneself that this is a legitimately viable solution to Cleveland’s perpetual dearth of talent at the quarterback position.

That being said, this would be the Brownsiest move ever. Cleveland would probably be laughed out of the building if they actually went quarterback with both their first two picks. Unless, of course, John Dorsey’s master plan is to draft two and trade one away to one of the quarterback-needy teams picking after them. Which, actually isn’t such a crazy idea.

This news could also spark quite a trade war for the No. 2 overall pick, currently owned by the New York Giants. General manager Dave Gettleman has said he’s open for business here to trade that pick, so there’s a chance Big Blue could end up with quite a haul trading it away.
