This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. With second-year quarterback Paxton Lynch struggling throughout training camp, he became a long shot to earn the Denver Broncos’ starting quarterback job.
That’s now been confirmed. Trevor Siemian the starting quarterback.
While Siemian did struggle in a starting role last season, he’s looked much better than Lynch during the summer. In two preseason games, the third-year quarterback is completing 78 percent of his passes with a touchdown and zero picks.
Sure Lynch has looked adequate during the preseason, but his struggles in camp were well documented leading up to the Broncos’ preseason slate.
Siemian threw 18 touchdowns compared to 10 interceptions while completing 60 percent of his passes as a sophomore last season. He’ll now have first crack to lead the team back to the playoffs after a one-year hiatus.
