The Miami Dolphins might need a win Sunday against the playoff-bound New England Patriots to save the job of head coach Brian Flores.

FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reported Sunday that chatter from Miami indicated Flores was not 100 percent assured of returning to Miami.

“I heard later this week, just keep your eye on that Brian Flores,” Glazer said Sunday on FOX’s NFL pregame show. “If they got rid of Brian Flores, there is a lot more problems in that organization than just that. He’d get a job in two seconds.”

The Dolphins entered the game with an 8-8 record, rebounding from a 1-7 start. They won seven straight to move into playoff contention until a Week 17 loss to the Tennessee Titans 34-3.

Flores, 40, has a 23-25 record in three seasons as head coach of the Dolphins entering Sunday’s game. He signed what was reported as a fully guaranteed five-year deal when he was hired in February 2019. The contract value was not disclosed.

Before joining the Dolphins, Flores was the defensive play caller for the Patriots. In his final game with the team, the Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 in Super Bowl LIII.
