In news that is hardly surprising, it is being reported that Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson wants to play for the Dallas Cowboys.
The report comes from Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole, who indicated that the Vikings are aware of Peterson’s intentions. However, the Vikings do not want to trade him, specifically to the Cowboys.
This comes on the heels of Peterson reportedly telling the brass in Minnesota that he’s uneasy about a potential return to the only team he has suited up for during a Hall of Fame worthy eight-year career.
The situation surrounding Peterson has many layers. He doesn’t feel that the Vikings backed him during what was an unfortunate series of events stemming from a child abuse case. Suiting up for just one game last season, Peterson was first placed in the Commissioner’s Exempt list before the NFL suspended him. He also just recently filed a grievance against the league arguing that he should be reinstated immediately.
In relation to the Cowboys, they may very well be in the market for a running back. DeMarco Murray is slated to become a free agent, which could earn him a rather large payday. Short of agreeing to an extension, Murray will be on the open market March 10th.
