Red Sox place P David Price on IL with wrist injury

The Boston Red Sox announced on Thursday that they have placed struggling starting pitcher David Price on the injured list, retroactive August 5.

Price has apparently been dealing with a wrist injury to his throwing arm. It could help explain the major struggles we’ve seen from the former Cy Young winner recently.

Price has given up 20 earned runs in just 17 innings over his past four starts. That’s led to a bloated 4.36 ERA on the season.

For their part, the Red Sox head into Thursday’s action with a 60-56 record. They are 16 games behind the New York Yankees in the AL East and six games out of the final wild card spot.
