Tampa Bay Rays ace Blake Snell is hitting the injured list.

The Rays placed Snell on the Injured List with a fractured fourth right toe.

The good news is obviously that this doesn’t seem like a long-term injury. Entering Tuesday’s action, the Rays have MLB’s best record at 12-4 and have a 5.5 game lead in the American League East.

Snell, the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner, has again been one of baseball’s best in 2019. He boasts a 2.16 ERA, 0.76 WHIP, and has struck out 36 batters in 25 innings over his first four starts. And most of the damage against him came in a sub par Opening Day outing. Since then, he’s been virtually unhittable.
