Ravens OC on Colin Kaepernick: ‘His body of work speaks for itself’

Colin Kaepernick

Free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick will work out for a majority of NFL teams this coming Saturday in Atlanta.

While the workout has taken on unnecessary drama over the past couple days, it’s still an opportunity for Kaepernick to prove that he belongs in the NFL.

In talking about the former Super Bowl quarterback, Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman pretty much indicated that Kaepernick should be on an NFL roster.

Roman was Kaepernick’s offensive coordinator under Jim Harbaugh in San Francisco from 2011-14. He was the one calling plays when the former second-round pick took over for Alex Smith as the 49ers’ starter in 2012, leading them to a surprise Super Bowl appearance.

During his time under Roman, Kaepernick put up a 25-14 record with 60 total touchdowns and 21 interceptions. There’s obviously a built-in relationship here.

Whether this means Baltimore will show interest in signing the embattled quarterback remains to be seen. Head coach John Harbaugh indicated that he’s happy for Kaepernick and hopes it works out.

As it relates to the Ravens, they seem to have a full quarterback room with MVP candidate Lamar Jackson, former No. 2 pick Robert Griffin III and impressive rookie Trace McSorley.

We’re highly intrigued to see what comes of Saturday’s workout. From an on-field perspective, there’s very little reason to believe Kaepernick does not belong on an NFL roster despite not having played since 2016.
