Ravens lose CB Tavon Young to torn ACL

Tavon Young Baltimore Ravens

After needing help to leave the field during OTAs Thursday, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Tavon Young got some bad news in the form of a torn ACL.

The team announced the injury via its website later in the day.

Before the announcement, Young declared he’d be coming back stronger than ever in a Twitter message to his followers.

It’s a brutal blow to the second-year rising star. Young was a fourth-round pick out of Temple last year and established himself as the top nickel cornerback on Baltimore’s roster. He ended up starting 11 games in 2016, coming up with 53 tackles, 8 passes defended and 2 picks.

It’s hard to imagine Young will be able to make it back onto the playing field for the upcoming season. Without him, the Ravens will need to depend on rookie Marlon Humphrey out of Alabama, drafted in the first round this past April.
