Las Vegas Raiders news for the offseason has not gotten off to an incredibly great start. One day after winning their season finale against the Broncos in Denver, the Raiders find themselves in a difficult spot.
Reports are coming out of Las Vegas that star running back and former first-round pick Josh Jacobs was arrested early Monday morning near McCarron International airport for a DUI after a single-car accident.
Raiders news: RB Josh Jacobs arrested in Las Vegas on DUI charges
“Las Vegas Metro Police confirm that Raiders running back Josh Jacobs was arrested on a DUI charge early this morning after a single car accident in the airport connector,” Kevin Bolinger of Fox 5 in Vegas reported. “According to police, the accident took place at 4:42 AM and police suspected impairment. Jacobs was taken to a local hospital to be checked out. He has been released from custody and has a court appearance set for March 8th.”
It appears that Josh Jacobs was returning with his team from Denver and allegedly opted to drive a motor vehicle while impaired. As someone who has driven that connector multiple times, it is hard enough to navigate when sober. This obviously isn’t a great look for the 22-year-old Jacobs.
It remains to be seen whether the former Alabama standout will face discipline from the NFL, but we can pretty much bank on that coming to fruition.
Again, this is not great Raiders news to open what promises to be a huge offseason for the Las Vegas-based organization. Jacobs has recorded north of 1,300 total yards in each of his first two NFL seasons. However, he averaged less than four yards per rush for the Raiders in 2020.
We’ll have more information on this breaking story as it develops. For now, Josh Jacobs is in hot water with both the Raiders’ organization and the local authorities in Vegas.
