Quinten Post recorded a career-high 29 points and 14 rebounds to pace visiting Boston College to an 84-72 victory at Notre Dame on Saturday in South Bend, Ind.

Post, a 6-foot-10 center, made 10 of 14 shots from the floor — including 4 of 56 from behind the 3-point arc.

The Eagles (9-11, 3-6 Atlantic Coast Conference) was 11 of 19 from beyond the arc. Boston College entered the game shooting 27.5 percent on 3-point shots and was coming off an 0-for-6 performance on 3-pointers in Tuesday’s 72-64 loss at North Carolina.

It was Notre Dame’s first game since Mike Brey announced Thursday that he would step down as the team’s head coach at the end of the season.

Nate Laszewski scored a career-high 29 points for the Fighting Irish (9-11, 1-8). Laszewski made seven 3-pointers and added seven rebounds.

Notre Dame pulled within three at 74-71, following two free throws from Laszewski with 2:46 to play. It did not get any closer, however.

Makai Ashton-Langford added 20 points for Boston College, which improved to 1-5 in road games this season. The Eagles, who shot 56.9 percent from the field, led 36-35 at halftime and scored the first 13 points in the second half.

Cormac Ryan and Dane Goodwin each scored 13 points for Notre Dame, which led by as many as nine points in the first half.

Notre Dame missed its first nine shots from the field in the second half and didn’t score until Ryan made a free throw with 14:27 to play. The Fighting Irish trailed 49-39 at that point.

BC, which closed the first half on a 15-5 run, posted a 70-63 win in the earlier meeting between the teams this season on Jan. 3. The Eagles trailed for most of that contest before finishing the game on a 17-4 run.

The Eagles made 15 of their 17 free throw attempts on Saturday.
