Pro Bowl OT Donald Penn to meet with Redskins, per report

Donald Penn

The Washington Redskins have a major hole to fill at left tackle with future Hall of Famer Trent Williams holding out of training camp.

There seems to be no end in sight as it relates to the standoff between Williams and the Hogs. It’s in this that Washington is set reportedly set to meet with three-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Donald Penn.

A 12-year NFL veteran, Penn suited up for the Oakland Raiders over the past five seasons. He earned Pro Bowl nods with the team in 2016 and 2017 before missing all but four games to injury last season.

Ultimately, the Raiders decided to release Penn after signing Trent Brown in free agency.

The 36-year-old Penn is a bit long in the tooth. But he could slide in and start immediately.

Whether it’s rookie Dwayne Haskins or one of the two veteran quarterbacks slated to start in D.C. this season, the Skins need someone with experience to hold down the blind side. Penn would bring that.
