The Carvana PPA Tour announced a 25-event schedule for 2023 that includes a $5.5 million prize purse, which the tour stated Wednesday will be the largest single-season purse in professional pickleball.

It represents 25 percent increase in the number events held last year and an 83.3 percent increase in payouts. The schedule will consist of 25 professional events, including 15 PPA tour events, four majors, three World Pickleball Championship Invitational events and three special events based on qualification.

More than 60 touring pros will compete exclusively on the PPA circuit in 2023. The circuit said touring pros earned an average of $96,000 from the tour alone last year and anticipates that to increase by 63.9 percent this year.

“We are so excited to introduce our 2023 pro roster and payouts as we focus on getting bigger and better each year and solidifying the Carvana PPA Tour as the place for all things pickleball,” PPA commissioner and CEO Connor Pardoe said in a press release. “This is a huge step for us and is only the beginning for the Tour as we set our sights on larger events, higher prize purses, enhanced player development, and much more. It’s an exciting time for professional pickleball and the ever-evolving landscape.”

The tour, which was renamed the Carvana PPA Tour this year, kicked off its season last week with the Hyundai Masters in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Top-ranked players Ben Johns and Anna Leigh Waters each claimed the Triple Crown in their respective divisions.

Upcoming events will include six stops in new cities, including Nashville, Seattle and Boca Raton, Fla., and the tour will hold competitions in 14 states overall in 2023.

Events will be shown among broadcast partners including ABC, CBS, FOX, ESPN, Tennis Channel and Fanduel TV.
