POTUS shouts out Lamar Jackson, NFL MVP responds in kind

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson throws a pass

Given the divisiveness during these troubling times, it’s always nice to see people take politics out of the equation every once in a while.

That’s what we saw in this back-and-forth between President Donald Trump and reigning NFL MVP, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, on Saturday.

Trump shouted out Jackson on social media after former Louisville teammate Jaire Alexander posted his initial reaction to the quarterback being selected by Baltimore in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Jackson responded in kind.

Jackson is pretty much calling Trump his cousin in response to the president, a term that has defined the quarterback’s tenure in Baltimore.

Regardless of political leanings, it’s always nice to get a shout out by the President of the United States.

Sure some of the reactions to Jackson’s tweet were less-than-stellar. That’s what happens when we look at Twitter in today’s world and the fact that Trump is not necessarily the most popular president in recent history.

Even then, it’s great to see the president and sports world interact without ugliness representing the theme.

Good stuff here.
