Former NHL defenseman P.K. Subban creates his own signature dish

If there’s one thing athletes need to do to remain at the top of their game, it’s stay in shape. They need to eat right, work out, and take care of their bodies in a way that allows them to perform to the best of their abilities. So, if anyone knows what eating healthy is, it’s a professional athlete. With that in mind, Canadian food delivery service WeCook, which serves ready-made meals right to hungry foodies’ doors, partnered with former NHL defenseman P.K. Subban to create a healthy, tasty, athlete-approved exclusive dish.

A look at P.K. Subban’s latest venture

PK Subban and Gabriel Drapeau

Subban was tapped as WeCook’s first-ever brand ambassador and, to make the partnership official, launched  P.K.’s Power Bowl, which is slated to become available as part of WeCook’s offerings on March 16, 2025. The bowl contains grilled chicken marinated in local maple syrup and red hot buffalo sauce, served with a bright and fresh sweet potato casserole, steamed broccoli, brown rice and beans, and will be available for four weeks after its launch date. It’ll also resurface periodically throughout the year.

WeCook is helmed by Gabriel Drapeau, who used to work at iconic Montreal restaurant Joe Beef. Of course, Subban spent years with the Montreal Canadiens, serving as the team’s top defensive option and power play specialist. He was known for his big, booming shot from the blue line, his physicality and, of course, his big personality. Venturing into the brand ambassador space, according to the Toronto, Canada native, was a logical next step.

“Partnering with WeCook was an easy decision,” Subban said. “As someone constantly on
the go, I know the importance of good nutrition, quality ingredients, and convenience. But most
importantly, I believe that simple, great-tasting food has the power to fuel your day and keep
you at your best. WeCook makes it effortless to enjoy satisfying, flavorful meals wit
sacrificing time or quality, and I’m excited to share that with Canadians.”

Of course, being a brand ambassador meant Subban will bring his big personality to marketing campaigns, events, and more to celebrate the partnership. It’s something the team at WeCook is looking very forward to.

“P.K. is a foodie, so to have him join the WeCook family just makes sense,” said Michel Gagné,
the CEO of WeCook. “His drive, authenticity, and dedication to community align perfectly with our
values at WeCook. We’re thrilled to have him on board to help us inspire people across the
country to embrace a tasty and more convenient way of living.”
